Azure Key Vault Explorer FAQ
What is an Azure Key Vault Explorer?
An Azure Key Vault Explorer is a tool that lets you browse, search, and manage secrets, keys, and certificates stored in Azure Key Vault without using the Azure Portal. SatisVault is a browser-based explorer that works as a Chrome extension, giving you instant access from any tab.
Is SatisVault better than the Microsoft Azure Key Vault Explorer?
The Microsoft Azure Key Vault Explorer is a desktop application that is no longer actively maintained. SatisVault is a browser extension that is actively developed, works on any operating system with a Chromium browser, and adds features the desktop tool never had - including auto-fill by URL, AWS Secrets Manager support, and cross-vault search.
Does SatisVault support Azure Key Vault keys and certificates too?
SatisVault currently focuses on secrets management with full CRUD operations. Keys and certificate management are on the roadmap.
Is it safe to use a browser extension to explore Azure Key Vault?
Yes. SatisVault uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE - the same authentication flow as the Azure Portal itself. Your secrets are fetched directly from Azure and never pass through any SatisVault server. Access is governed entirely by your existing Azure RBAC policies.
Does it work with Microsoft Edge?
Yes. SatisVault works with any Chromium-based browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Arc.
